When is the income tax filing deadline?
For most individuals in Canada, the income tax filing deadline is April 30. Self-employed individuals generally have until June 15 to file, although any balance owing is generally due April 30.
How often should I reconcile my books?
We recommend reconciling your bank and credit card accounts monthly, or quarterly at a minimum. Regular reconciliations help catch errors, keep your records accurate, and ensure your books are up to date for GST, PST, payroll, and year-end reporting.
What documents do I need for tax season?
For personal income tax preparation, you may need T4s, T5s, T4As, RRSP contribution receipts, investment slips, medical and charitable donation receipts, and other documents relevant to your situation. Self-employed individuals should also have records of their business income and expenses.
